Backuply for BigCommerce

Backuply gives BigCommerce merchants a Vault: continuous versions, Backup Now, named restore points, and item-level restore. The first snapshot starts on install.

Quick answer

Backuply for BigCommerce is an embedded admin app that captures store objects through webhooks, a nightly reconcile, and Backup Now. Restore is a selected version written back through the BigCommerce API — not a zip download.

Key takeaways

  • First backup starts automatically after install.
  • Trial keeps 7 days of history; paid keeps 365 days; named pins (max 7) stay.
  • Orders are visible in the Vault; self-serve order restore is not in V1.

Who this page is for

  • BigCommerce merchants who cannot undo a bad CSV import from native export
  • Teams that need version history for products, pages, and themes
  • Operators who want Backup Now before a restore

What Backuply adds to BigCommerce

Native export is a CSV slice. It does not version pages, blogs, redirects, themes, modifiers, or a point-in-time catalog. Backuply versions each object when it changes and restores through the API.

The Vault matches the product class merchants know from Rewind-style backup: All Items, View Versions, Advanced Restore, and Backup Now — without sharing infrastructure with other apps.

How capture works on BigCommerce

Webhooks enqueue a job; Backuply GETs the live object and stores a version if the hash changed. Nightly reconcile lists live IDs versus stored IDs to catch deletes and inline edits BigCommerce never webhooked.

BigCommerce catalog still has a V2/V3 dual model. Capture and restore branch per product on option_set_id. V2 option-set complex rules are backup-only because the API cannot restore them.

FAQ

Does Backuply require theme edits on BigCommerce?

No. Backuply is an admin app. It does not inject storefront scripts for shoppers.

Can I restore a Stencil theme?

Yes in V1: Backuply can download a Stencil theme zip and upload/activate it. Page Builder widgets inside the control panel are not in that zip.
