Introduction

Backuply is continuous backup and restore for ecommerce stores. It versions catalog, customer, page, and related objects as they change, then lets you restore a selected version from the Vault — not a nightly zip of the whole store.

What is Backuply?

Each store object (a product, a category, a page, a customer) is an item. When we see it change, we store a new version. Unchanged items are not recopied. Restore means taking a version at time T and writing it back through the platform API.

Backuply is available as embedded apps for BigCommerce and Ecwid. After install, the first full snapshot starts automatically. Webhooks keep versions current. A nightly reconcile catches deletes and edits the platform never webhooked.

Key features

  • Vault — Searchable All Items library with filters (type, active/deleted, date range).
  • Backup Now — Merchant-triggered full crawl. One crawl at a time. Does not overwrite older versions.
  • Named restore points — Pin a Backup Now crawl. Hard cap of 7 pins per store. Pins are not purged with retention.
  • View Versions — Compare live vs a selected version (SUMMARY or SOURCE CODE) and restore that item.
  • Advanced Restore — Automated types are self-serve as of a date. By Request types go to support (up to 7 days).
  • Retention — Trial: 7 days. Paid: 365 days. Named pins stay.

How restore works

Restore is three paths. There is no single backup file to download.

  1. Single item — All Items → View Versions → Restore to this version. Starts immediately.
  2. Automated category — Advanced Restore for products, categories, brands, pages, and similar types as of a date/time.
  3. By Request — All Item Types, customers, orders, and similar types create a support request (up to 7 days).
Before any restore: run Backup Now if the last crawl is stale. That captures the current store, including recent mistakes. It does not overwrite older versions.

Advanced Restore will restore deleted items and update items modified since the selected date. It will not delete live items created after that date, and it will not overwrite items that did not change.

Gaps in View Versions mean the item did not change on those days — not that a day was lost.
